Tides and Weather

Tide and Weather icon

Tides of 0.0 feet and lower are best for visiting rocky shore areas, but tides up to two feet high can still provide good viewing in certain spots when the ocean is calm. Try to visit the tidepools at least one hour before low tide for best viewing. Walk to the areas closest to the ocean that you feel comfortable going to and work your way back with the incoming tide. Be sure to check the estimated time of low tide and weather conditions before heading out.

Predicted tidal heights depend on the the location you are visiting. To get an estimate of the height and time of low tide, pick the location that is closest to where you are going on the coast.

Remember these are only estimates and can vary a great deal depending on local conditions and weather.
